Health Services | Print |

A full-time school nurse (Sr. Maureen Bernius, RN) is provided by the NYC Board of Health, which mandates her responsibilities. She is required to follow very specific guidelines as set forth by the Board of Health and is closely monitored by a district-supervising nurse. She schedules time for classes to discuss health and cleanliness issues and also checks to see that health records are kept current.

The NYC Board of Education sends representatives to screen our children for vision and hearing. They screen the odd-numbered grades, and our parent volunteers screen the even-numbered grades. The results of these tests are recorded on health records and reported to our Principal, who then sees that parents are contacted if their child has any difficulties.
