Get Ready for Pre K
|
|
Below are some suggestions to help make the transition from Pre-School to Pre-K an easy one.
- Please teach your child how to put on and take off their coat. Children do not have to know how to zip or button; we will assist them.
- Teach your child to be responsible for their belongings. Label all items. Your child should be able to recognize his or her name.
- Ensure that they are able to attend to their bathroom needs.
|
|
- Read to your child daily.
- Children should get a good night’s sleep. The summer time is a good time to start a regular sleep routine.
- You can ease your child’s separation anxiety by telling them what a good time they will have learning and playing. Assure them that at the end of their day you will be there.
This section addresses things that we ask your cooperation.
- When purchasing a book bag, please make sure that it is big enough to accommodate your child’s coat. The UPK requires coats to be stored. The average size book bag will meet this requirement. We will be teaching them to fold their coat to fit in easily.
- Lunchboxes, are the children’s responsibility. They will take them directly to recess.
3. It is very important to be on time for school. We start our routines immediately. If your child is late, it disrupts the class routine and your child has to hurry to catch up.
4. You will be receiving a letter from your child’s teache around the 3rd week in August. The letter will have your assigned time what to come in on September 6th. You will be staying in class with your child that morning. Please report to school at the assigned time as we like to meet each child in a small group setting.
We look forward to seeing you in September and have a great summer vacation.
