Dear SFA Families: As we look back at a busy December, we want to extend our gratitude to everyone who supported our efforts with our annual Christmas presentations. A special thank you is appropriately given to the entire faculty and student body and to all who helped in so many capacities: stage and hall decorators, music accompaniment, Masters of Ceremonies, backstage director, stagehands, maintenance, ticket sales and video taping, and refreshments and raffle sales. |
| SPECIAL THANKS TO:
-Mrs. Minieri, Mrs. Soltesz, and all the volunteers who helped with the Christmas Boutique. -The 4th grade moms who hosted the December Cake Sale with a profit of $144.50 -Mrs. LaRosa and Mrs. Todaro for their beautiful Christmas decorating of our school and Msgr. Campbell Hall, and Mrs. Ginestri, Mr. Andrea, and Mr. Mike for their assistance. -Mrs. Mincone for decorating our school windows and hallways for the Christmas season. -Santa for making a special visit to SFA to take pictures with our students - Mrs. Bertuccio for taking the Pictures with Santa (profit of $1,267.00), producing the videos of the Christmas Shows, and ticket sales (profit of $3,579.00) -Mrs. McLaughlin for coordinating the Toys for Tots Drive, and the students and their families for their donations. Over 300 toys were collected and because we more than met our goal, a special presentation of the movie Toy Story was shown to the students. -The faculty and staff for their Christmas gift donations to Hour Children -The SFA Carolers for their beautiful caroling at the Christmas Show, and Mrs. Annunziata, Miss Mullaney, and Mrs. Nealis, for their outstanding direction. -The Ortiz family for their donation of a DVD player for the after school children CONGRATULATIONS TO: -Luisa Schwab from class K-106, winner of the November 50/50 Raffle -Students who attained Principal’s List, First Honors, and Second Honors for the First Trimester. A pizza lunch was given to them in honor of their academic achievement. FYI AND REMINDERS: -Beginning in January, our special subject teachers will be posting homework assignments for all grade levels on our website. -World’s Finest Candy Sale begins on January 11th. Every student is responsible for selling 1 box of chocolate. -During the winter months when we have inclement weather, the back door will be closed but unlocked. Only late arrivals should enter through the front door of the school. If the gates on 21st Avenue are closed, use the front door entrance. School closings will be announced on our website www.sfaschool.org and also on NY1 News. -Double parking is prohibited for the safety of our children. Please respect the homeowners who are unable to get their cars out of the driveways because cars are blocking them. -Any messages pertaining to your child must be called in to the school office in the morning such as absence, homework pickup, etc. Homework and books cannot be sent to a different classroom. Students are encouraged to get the phone number of a classmate who can bring homework to them. -If your child receives a new vaccine, please have your doctor send this information to Sr. Maureen immediately. -Grants and scholarships are available to students entering grades K through 8 through Columbus Citizens Foundation. CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK JANUARY 29th – FEBRUARY 3rd The theme this year is Faith. Academics. Service. This special week will begin with 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, January 29th followed by coffee in the Lower School. A tour of the school will be available. More details to follow in January. Our sincerest wishes that this New Year will be filled with God’s choicest blessings and peace in our world.
