Dear SFA Families: Thank you for getting us off to a wonderful start. October is filled with many family fun activities. PARISH FESTIVAL on Saturday, October 1st from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with rides, food, games, and a DJ. Bring your family and friends for a fun-filled day and evening. Please try to attend the 11:30 a.m. Mass in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, our Patron Saint. Raffle tickets are still available at $10.00 each or a book of 11 tickets for $100.00. SPIRIT DAY- will take place on Tuesday, October 4th. Gym attire and sneakers are to be worn to school. Parents are invited to watch from outside the fence as their children participate in a variety of relay races, games, etc. |

Once again, we have been awarded Title I services, a federally funded program based on the “No Child Left Behind” Act. We are very pleased to welcome back Miss Jessica Guerrerio for Math, Miss Melissa Ostroll for Reading, and Mrs. Julie Beatrice, Social Worker. The selection of students by the Department of Education is based on standardized test scores and residence.
THANK YOU TO: -All the families for their gift items and monetary donations for the baskets for the Parish Festival, everyone who baked or purchased store bought cakes, cupcakes and cookies, and all the volunteers who donated their time to lend a hand during the day and evening. -Mrs. LaRosa and Mr. Vorlicek for organizing Spirit Day along with ordering the McDonald’s lunch for everyone, and all the volunteers who helped in so many capacities on this special day. -Everyone who volunteered to be a Class Rep and for door security, food sales, book fairs, and shopping. -Mrs. Ortiz for coordinating Box Tops for Education and Trick or Treat for Unicef -Mrs. Sweeney for volunteering to do the Campbell’s Soup Labels as well as picking up our cartridges for recycling.
-Grocery Bingo will be on Friday, November 11th this year. Please mark your calendar for this fun-filled evening. -8th graders will celebrate Ring Day on Friday, November 4th. -Please try to support our school with General Mills Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s Soup Labels, Target School Rewards, Cartridge Recycling, and Market America. -Our Tuition Secretary, Mrs. Malley, is in on Mondays and Thursdays should you need to contact her. Please remember that tuition is due on the 1st of every month, and your ID number should be written on the front of your check. Monthly statements will be sent home with your child; returns are to be dropped off at the rectory. -All food orders must be placed on Monday mornings. No student can be permitted to purchase food items on the day they are served. If for any reason you did not send in money on Monday, you must send lunch for your child. Late orders cannot be accepted. If a student is absent, money is not refunded or held over for the next week. -Ordering Pizza each month instead of weekly is on a trial basis only for the month of October. We will evaluate and let you know if this procedure will be continued. -If interested, the Lunch Bagger Program is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in October. -Class pictures will be taken on Thursday, October 20th. Individual pictures, as well as 8th grade Graduation pictures, will be taken on Friday, October 21st. -In the event of school closing due to the inclement weather, announcements will be made on WCBS 880 AM and WINS 1010 AM. -A school-wide phone chain will be activated and school closing information will be posted here on our website: www.sfaschool.org. -We only have some gym shorts available in Youth Small and Adult Medium along with some belts and ties. We will not restock these items. - Italian Heritage Day is Friday, October 14th. Students will be able to purchase different varieties of Italian food for lunch. -Please inform the school office of any changes in phone numbers, addresses, or pertinent student-related information. We are grateful to you for remaining outside the schoolyard and ask that you allow room at the 21st Ave. gate for the children to enter and exit at all times. Please avoid double parking as it presents a danger to our students and can lead to a parking violation for you. For safety reasons, all students should depart for home immediately upon dismissal.
