January 2012 News

Dear SFA Families:

Each year as we celebrate Christmas, we remember the wonderful people in our lives that make each day truly meaningful for all of us. Your beautiful children are the reason why we do our work. They bring us great joy and remind us daily of the wonders of the Christ-child. Their smiles, their excitement, and their promise of a hope-filled future enrich our lives and brighten our spirits. Not a day goes by without some surprising magical moment that is given to us from a child. Each one of them sparkles in their own light, and we love them all! We thank you for sharing the most precious gift of your children with us.

As we look back at a busy December, we want to extend our gratitude to everyone who supported our efforts with our annual Christmas presentations. A special thank you is appropriately given to the entire faculty and student body and to all who helped in so many capacities: stage and hall decorators, music accompaniment, Masters of Ceremonies, backstage director, stagehands, maintenance, ticket sales and video taping, and refreshments and raffle sales.

December 2011 News

Dear SFA Families:

December is that wonderful time of year – time to await the birth of Jesus, time to be with family and friends, and time to spread the joy of Christmas with everyone you meet.

PROGRESS REPORTS will be distributed on Wednesday, December 7th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Terra Nova results for Grades 3-8 will also be distributed at this time. Parents are asked to enter through the main entrance on 46th Street. Together with your child’s report, you will have a good indication of their overall academic performance. “One of the strongest motivators for students is the opportunity to look back and see their progress. In this way, students can understand their learning goals, recognize their own skill level in relation to the goals, and take responsibility for reaching the goals. By involving students in their own success, they become a more active partner in their learning.” (Educational Leadership, Vol.63, No. 3).
