"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday , today, and forever" ~ Hebrews 13:8 stfrancis

Dear SFA Families,

The month of March promises many blessings for us as a school family as well as a parish community.  In addition to all the prayerful Lenten opportunities our parish affords, our eighth graders will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m., and our second graders will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday , today, and forever" ~ Hebrews 13:8 stfrancis

Dear Families:

For the continued safety of everyone in our school, all parents must enter/exit the school building by the front door of the school.  Periodically, we will be having Fire, Lock-Down, and Evacuation drills so that students, faculty, and staff are well prepared for any type of emergency that may arise.

Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service was the theme chosen this year to recognize our Catholic educational system in the United States.  We thank you for choosing St. Francis of Assisi School to educate your children.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday , today, and forever" ~ Hebrews 13:8 stfrancis

Dear SFA Families,

Each year as we celebrate Christmas, we remember the wonderful people in our lives that make each day truly meaningful for all of us.  Your beautiful children are the reason why we do our work.  They bring us great joy and remind us daily of the wonders of the Christ-child.  Their smiles, their excitement, and their promise of a hope-filled future enrich our lives and brighten our spirits.  Not a day goes by without some surprising magical moment that is given to us from a child.  Each one of them sparkles in their own light, and we love them all!  We thank you for sharing the most precious gift of your children with us.

As we look back at a busy December, we want to extend our gratitude to everyone who supported our efforts with our annual Christmas presentations.  A special thank you is appropriately given to the entire faculty and student body and to all who helped in so many capacities:  stage and hall decorators, backstage director, stagehands, maintenance, refreshments, and raffle sales.

December 2016

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday , today, and forever" ~ Hebrews 13:8 stfrancis

Dear SFA Families,

December is that wonderful time of year – time to await the birth of Jesus, time to be with family and friends, and time to spread the joy of Christmas with everyone you meet.

PROGRESS REPORTS will be distributed on Friday, December 7 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Terra Nova results for Grades 3-8 will also be distributed at this time.  Parents are asked to enter through the main entrance on 46th Street.  Together with your child’s report, you will have a good indication of their overall academic performance.  “One of the strongest motivators for students is the opportunity to look back and see their progress. In this way, students can understand their learning goals, recognize their own skill level in relation to the goals, and take responsibility for reaching the goals.  By involving students in their own success, they become a more active partner in their learning.” (Educational Leadership, Vol.63, No. 3).

Dear SFA Families:

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this month of November, let us be mindful of the many blessings we share.  It is our responsibility to teach our children to value the priceless gifts of faith and family and to appreciate all of God’s creations.  Please welcome Mr. Mark Tracy, our new Physical Education teacher, and Miss Christina Mastricovo, our new seventh grade teacher.
