Pre-K October Newsletter

October

UPK October Newsletter

During the month of October our theme will be Community Helpers. Through experiences provided by this theme, the children will become aware of a great number of community helpers and the way these workers help us today.  We will discussing "What we want to be when we grow up." We will be listening to books and recordings about community helpers in our neighborhoods and turning our classroom into various places in the community. The first four community helpers that we will be learning about are the police officer, firefighter, mail carrier/mailman, and banker.  Our class will be taking field trips that are in walking distance of school so that we may be able to visit the different workers that we are discussing in our classroom (Examples: bank, fire station, dentist office and more.)

Please let me know if you have a particular job that you would like to share with us regarding our theme this month.

Mrs.  Anello and Mrs. Viola

UNIVERSAL PRE-K

Pre-Kindergarten is an exciting time in the academic and social life of your child.

Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) programs provide a nurturing environment where children's natural curiosity is used a a springboard to learn skills that are necessary for success in school.

Children learn how to share, take turns and work in groups.  They also develop skills that form the foundation for reading, writing and mathematics.

All UPK programs are free of charge for 2 1/2 hours 5 days a week.
