Week of April 29th 2013
Dear parents,
This week in Pre-K we learned about the life cycle of a butterfly. Once butterflies migrate towards a warm client they lay eggs. A caterpillar hatches from the egg and eats and eats until it has grown. When the caterpillar is ready it finds a tree branch and hangs upside down. A few days later it creates a chrysalis. After a month the chrysalis breaks open and a butterfly is born!
Next week we will begin to our unit on animals!
Friendly Reminders and Updates
- Monday May, 6th is show and share! Please have you child bring in one toy of their choice!
- Thursday, May 9th is our Mother’s day breakfast. Breakfast starts promptly at 8:30 in the school lunchroom.

Dear Parents,
This week in Pre-K we learned all about insects. Insects have three body parts, a head, thorax and abdomen. They have six legs, two antennas, two eyes, and a mouthpart. Some insects have wings but not all and unlike us their skeleton is on the outside of their body, an exoskeleton, which protects them. We then compared which bugs where insects and which were not using those characteristics. The class also, learned about the life cycle of ladybugs and grasshoppers.
Next week we will finish learning about insects and begin learning about caterpillars and how they turn into butterflies!

Dear Parents,
This week in Pre-K we finished learning about plants and their life cycle. Our trip to the Botanical Garden gave us the chance to see all different types of plants, flowers, and trees that we may not necessarily see around our neighborhood. We also began to learn about insects and the places they live. Next week we will continue to focus on insects! |
