This month we will start off learning about Bones and how Dinosaurs were discovered because of the bones archeologists found.

We will be going to the Museum of Natural History to see the Dinosaur bones.

Our next unit after that will be about different cultures of the world. We will be exploring our own heritages as well as some other interesting ones. We will be having a Chinese lunch to celebrate Chinese New Year and an international day. More information will be coming.

There will be a home to school project which will involve you creating a poster about you own heritage. This will be shared in the classroom. I am sending home a piece of tagboard and a flag for you to use. This will be due on Monday January 23rd.

We will be completing out unit about Community Helpers by learning about the doctor, the nurse, the vet and the dentist.

Dr Aqunio will be coming in to visit and share his experience as a doctor. We will be visiting with Sister Maureen, our school nurse.

We will also be learning about the different holidays that are celebrated during this month.

During the month of November we will still be learning about our Community Helpers. We will complete our unit about the Mail Person. Next, the children will be learning about the people in the bank, restaurant and the grocery store. They will also be learning about foods as we will be approaching Thanksgiving. We will be having lunch at Forno Italia, as well as going shopping at the grocery store. Permission slips will follow.

Your child will be receiving a construction paper feather on which they can draw something they are thankful for. Please have your child write his or her name under the picture.

We will be having a Thanksgiving Celebration on Wednesday November 23rd. An invitation will be coming. Since it will be in the classroom, only 1 adult can come per child. If your child has a younger sibling, they may attend also.

During the month of November we will be discovering what goes on in the bank, the restaurant and the grocery store.

We are going to the bank on the 7th. A trip to Forno Restaurant and a trip to the grocery store to buy the items we need for our Thanksgiving Celebration are being planned. More information to follow.

During the month of October our theme is Community Helpers. We will learn about those people in our community that help us. We will be visiting some places and we will have guests come in to speak to us about their jobs.

This month we will learn about the fireman, the policeman and the mail carrier.

If you are unable to join us on our walking trips it is ok, as we only need 4 parents for coverage.

The ESI.R parent questionnaire is from the Board of Education. The children will be assessed on their current skills. This is to help the teachers with planning to make the learning developmentally appropriate.
