Students in grades 3 & 4 are preparing presentations about Canada and New York using Tech4Learning's "Pixie". Students will be recording comments to complete the projects which will be shared via this space. These students have also been given access to an online "Mathletics" program provided by the diocese. Today they logged in, created personal avatars and began practicing math skills. Several students found themselves in the midst of a real-time competition with Canadian students! Students in K, 1 & 2 have been using MaxWrite to explore/illustrate Language Arts/Spelling lessons as they become familiar with wordprocessing techniques. REMINDER 1: Learning.com lessons have been assigned for homework; two lessons will be added weekly. N.B. should there be a computer problem, please contact me - arrangements may be made to work in the lab 7:30-8am and/or 2:45-3:20pm. Most lessons take about 30 minutes. REMINDER 2: Daily keyboarding practice helps - ask you child to demonstrate our classroom drills at your keyboard: "Left pinky types the A, the pointer types the B, the middle . . ." REMINDER 3: We invite and encourage parents to participate in Tomorrow.org's Parent Survey. Click on "Parents", select New York from the drop-down list and type: st fran in the school name area, click on "find school" and then on our school name to begin the survey. Results are compiled and published by March. Thank you to those parents who do take the time. |
