Grade 7 & 8 Social Studies Summer Assignment

Social Studies Summer assignment Grades 7 and 8

Historical figure of the United States

Students will create a PowerPoint Presentation by researching a Historical Figure in United States history along with related events of the time period. If you do not have PowerPoint capabilities or a similar program that will run on the Windows operating system, you may use a presentation board, but it must follow the plan outlined below.

Lets get started, first search for an American historical figure that interests you matching the topic goal. Use the table (see list) for ideas, but you are not limited to the names in the table as long as you clear it with Mrs. McLaughlin (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ). You may not select Sports Figures, Movie Stars, Musicians or Singers.

Students must have a Work Cite Slide(s) referencing all books, Internet/Media resources used. Please add sites to your favorite’s folder for future citation referencing. Students may print handouts if necessary

Student is required to use three different resources:

  1. One Site from Resource List  (see attached)
  2. One Reliable Site you found from your own search
  3. book (biography about or an autobiography by this historical figure that you will read.)
