ELA Exemplar 7-203
Over the course of the second trimester, 7-203 has been reading and discussing various elements of the novel including: plot structure, character archetype and analysis, responding, and critiquing literature from various perspectives. The students broke themselves up into 5 teams, with each team focusing on a specific task: Creating a plot mountain diagram, a story board to match those events, an archetypical character web with connections to literature and film, personal web pages from the perspectives of several main characters, and finally an editorial review.
Stop by the second floor hallway to see our students’ hard work!
Our next reading adventure will take us to a magical forest full of fairies, confusion, and comedic mix ups in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream!

-In Science the students:
The students continued to study how the cell divides in mitosis and meiosis
7-203 discovered that DNA is the building blocks of life, and RNA helps us build proteins
They studied the structure of the chromosome and a scientist who discovered them- Walter Sutton.
The students are learning about another 4 key scientists that helped build a working model of DNA and its base pairs
Then we went to the LMC and we created “interviews” to be incorporated into our own model of DNA…using marshmallows, toothpicks, and a little bit of ingenuity!
Check back later to see our hard work

| Well, actually… it’s the life cycle of a cell, which can also be called “cellular division.” Over the past week the 7th grade has been working in room 204 in small groups. The goal of this project was to create a presentation using animations, images, multimedia sources, and scholarly information from our textbook, the internet, and Learn360. After a week of hard work, the groups gave presentations to their classmates and recorded their projects. Click the link below to be redirected to our Google docs page. Great work team! |
