As junior high school students, we are preparing you for high school and beyond. We will be working on skills such as being organized and responsible, showing all work and processes, being prepared with notebooks, calculators, and supplies each and every day, to study for tests, and to participate in class. I expect all of my students to put their best efforts into their work as well as their behavior, so I will be holding you to a higher standard showing great encouragement for every new step you take.

I look forward to this year. I know together we will make it a successful one

Welcome 7th Grade

 Welcome7thGrade

I am delighted to be your homeroom teacher this year! I will be teaching the subjects of Life Science, ELA and Literature as well as Religion and Reading in Content Area. This will help us address fully the changing needs of the Common Core Curriculum by providing students with interesting non-fictional texts within specific subjects.

I look forward to a wonderful year with an exceptional group of young men and women, of which many I have had the pleasure of meeting last year. Please note that the supply list does not include any of the supplies that the students will need for their special class periods.

Grade 7 & 8 Social Studies Summer Assignment

Social Studies Summer assignment Grades 7 and 8

Historical figure of the United States

Students will create a PowerPoint Presentation by researching a Historical Figure in United States history along with related events of the time period. If you do not have PowerPoint capabilities or a similar program that will run on the Windows operating system, you may use a presentation board, but it must follow the plan outlined below.

Lets get started, first search for an American historical figure that interests you matching the topic goal. Use the table (see list) for ideas, but you are not limited to the names in the table as long as you clear it with Mrs. McLaughlin (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ). You may not select Sports Figures, Movie Stars, Musicians or Singers.

Students must have a Work Cite Slide(s) referencing all books, Internet/Media resources used. Please add sites to your favorite’s folder for future citation referencing. Students may print handouts if necessary

Student is required to use three different resources:

  1. One Site from Resource List  (see attached)
  2. One Reliable Site you found from your own search
  3. book (biography about or an autobiography by this historical figure that you will read.)
