Dear Parents,

     Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had an enjoyable Christmas and a relaxing break. During this month of January, we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week. I hope to see many of you during this special time.

• In the area of Religion, the students will continue an in-depth study of the sacraments. The students will learn about the importance of Baptism, and the many symbols related to this sacrament.

• In the area of Science, the students will study interactions in ecosystems. The students will explore different biomes that create the biosphere.

• In the area of Social Studies, the students will read about early colonies in the Americas. The students will also study the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

• In area of English Language Arts, the students will read The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. They will also begin to memorize two voice poems written by Paul Fleischman. The students will present these poems in class, and at the Poetry Presentation.
