For the Future 3rd Graders...

June 2012

 Dear Future  3rd Graders,

I am so excited to meet you and begin our year together!  First I would like to wish you a wonderful summer.  I hope you will enjoy time with your family and friends, have some fun vacations, and relax and have a good summer.  3rd grade is a very important year and I know you will want to spend some time this summer preparing.  In order to keep moving ahead this
summer, I encourage you to complete the Summer Bridge Book a few pages at a time.

In addition to completing your Summer Bridge Book, I hope you will read several books this summer.  In 3rd grade, you will use a reading notebook to keep track of the books you read all year.  Please begin your reading notebook this summer.

You should use a black and white marble composition book and complete entries for at least 2 fiction books from the attached list and at least 1 nonfiction book of your choice.  Notebook entries for fiction books will use a different format than nonfiction books, so please be careful to choose the correct one for each book.  Both formats are outlined on the attached page.  Please bring your reading notebook to school with you in September.

Please review the 3rd grade supply list so you can be prepared for school in September!  If you have any questions, you can e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Enjoy the summer and be safe!  See you in September!
