We will be moving forward in Social Studies to Unit 3, Using Our Resources. In this unit children will learn how people use resources and modify their environment as they build different kinds of communities. They will also learn how technology changes communities and helps us conserve resources. |
In Math we have moved on to graphing and charting. The children will read and interpret various data displays, including pictographs, bar graphs, and line plots. They will determine the range, mode, and median of a set of data. Students will also solve problems by reading a table or graph. Reading is all important to solve many of these critical thinking problems. |

Please continue to review addition and subtraction facts daily. Our next chapter in Math brings us to double digit addition and subtraction and it is imperative that your child has the basic facts memorized to meet with success. |

Much of our Religion and LA curriculum revolves around the Advent and Christmas season. We will be listening to many different stories about the first Christmas along with writing our own Christmas stories for our storybook journal. The children will be involved in the writing process from drafting, to publishing. |

Report Cards will be here shortly and I thank all of you for your timely return of your appointment time request forms. Please check your child’s folder for a confirmation of your appointment time. |

I look forward to seeing you at our Annual SFA Christmas Show. Second Grade will be performing on Wednesday, December 14, at 7:30pm in Msgr. Campbell Hall. This year SFA School will present an all school interpretation of the Christmas Story. If you have any questions about your son’s or daughter’s costume, please discuss it with me on report card night. Please be creative and authentic. |

P lease join us at our next Pre-Communion Mass on |
As you know the Mass responses changed on the first Sunday of Advent. We have been practicing in class but I ask that you reinforce this at home. The children have response cards in their folder and nightly practice would be extremely beneficial. |

I wish you all the gift of a peaceful and joy filled Christmas. May God bless you and your families the year through. |
