I find it necessary to take a few minutes to talk to you about behavior. Behavior in general, in our classroom, in the schoolyard, and in special classes seems to have changed. Because I have seen the students exhibiting much more positive behavior, my expectations of them are high.
I am concerned with how they speak to one another and how they are quick to become angry with their friends. It also concerns me when I review classroom, lunchroom, and school rules with them daily and I see a disregard for these rules when the bell rings or another teacher or adult is speaking to them.
We have daily discussions about treating others as you want to be treated and about making good choices for yourself and these are my expectations as they contribute to a climate that makes for successful teaching and learning.
Please take a few minutes to speak to and remind your child of your expectations and how the rules are set to ensure everyone’s safety both physically and emotionally.
I encourage you to allow your child to have “play dates” with classmates or neighborhood friends so that they may practice social skills. While team sports and organized activities are extremely beneficial, the opportunities for free play and times when their imaginations and problem solving skills are being exercised are priceless.
I thank you for your time, support, and cooperation in working with me to help me each of the children the best that they can be!
Have a great weekend!
