Dear St. Francis of Assisi School Family,

We hope you are enjoying a restful summer.  In a few short weeks, we will come together to begin another exciting year of learning:

• Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes will participate in the minor subject areas with the specialized teachers;  Pre-School will be introduced to the Italian Language.
• Grades 1-3 will be self-contained.
• Grades 4 & 5 will be departmentalized in Math and ELA. 
• Grades 6-8 will continue to cross grades with social studies, math and science.
• For Grades K-8 the 1^st bell will ring at 8:00 a.m. and the 2^nd bell will ring at 8:03 a.m. with classes beginning at 8:05.
• Pre-Kindergarten will meet their teacher in the schoolyard at 8:15 a.m.
• Pre-School will meet their teacher in the schoolyard at 8:15. a.m.

OPENING SCHOOL SCHEDULE for GRADES Pre-School-8

WEDNESDAY, SEPT 3, THURSDAY, SEPT. 4, and FRI., SEPT. 5

GRADES: 1-3                                    8:05 - 10:45 a.m.
GRADES: 4-8                                    8:05 - 11:00 a.m.
KINDERGARTEN:                          8:15 - 10:30 a.m.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN:                 8:30 - 10:15 a.m.

Pre-School Children will report at their scheduled time which will be assigned at the Orientation Meeting on Wednesday September 3^rd by the Pre-School Teacher. 

• Grades K through Grade 8 should arrive in the schoolyard by 8:00 a.m. before the bell rings.
•   New students are asked to report to the school office and will be shown to their class line.

We ask your cooperation in the following matters:

n      parents are to remain outside the school yard

n      students should be in full school uniform, (summer or winter) with school shoes.

n      Students will be met by their teachers and line up in the schoolyard at their designated places

PARENT ORIENTATION MEETING:

Wed, Sept. 3, Msgr. Campbell Hall - Toddler Time through Grade 3, 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 4, Msgr. Campbell Hall – Grades 4-8, 7:30 p.m.

FAMILIES OF GRADE 8 STUDENTS MUST MEET IN SCHOOL AT 6:30 ON 9/4 FOR TACHS REGISTRATION IN THE COMPUTER LAB.  ENTER SCHOOL FROM THE BACK DOOR AND PROCEED TO COMPUTER LAB IN THE SCHOOL BASEMENT.  FOLLOWING REGISTRATION YOU WILL GO TO MSGR. CAMPBELL HALL FOR THE 7 P.M. MEETING.

REGULAR, FULL DAY SCHEDULE BEGINS/LUNCH PROGRAM:

Please provide lunch for your child.  Students cannot be permitted in the lunchroom unless they have registered and paid the lunch fee.

Monday,       Sept. 8 - Grades: K-8, 8:05-2:25/35 p.m.

Monday,       Sept. 8 - Pre-Kindergarten, 8:15-2:35 p.m.

Monday,       Sept. 8 - Pre-School, 8:15-11:30 a.m. or 2:20 p.m.

Tuesday,       Sept. 9 – Toddler Time, 9:00-11 a.m.

UNIFORMS:  Optional for Pre-K, SFA gym shorts and shirts for warm weather and sweat suits for colder weather.  Brown or white knee socks or tights are required with the girls’ uniforms.   Sneaker socks are not permitted.  Only sneakers with ties or velcro are permitted for gym class.

TUITION STATEMENTS ARE ENCLOSED and will be provided monthly for payments.  The first tuition payment is due the 1^st of each month and must be received by August 15^th in the enclosed envelope.  Tuition payments received after the 15^th will incur a $35.00 late fee.  Activity Fees for Pre-School and Pre-K are also due August 1^st.  All payments are to be made by check or money order (please write your ID Number on all checks or money orders) and send or bring to the Rectory.  Ms. Teresa Karch, our Tuition Secretary can be reached at the school office on Monday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at 917 577-9637.

SCHOOL OFFICE:  The school office will be open on Tuesday, August 26 and Wednesday, August 27, from11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Registration for new students will be held at 11 a.m. on August 26 & 27.  Please call the school office for an appointment.

EARLY DROP-OFF /EXTENDED DAY PROGRAMS:  will begin Monday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 a.m.  Extended Day Program will be Monday through Friday, 2:30-6 p.m. beginning Monday, September 8.
