HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
We’re happy to say that our
first trimester’s events were a success. We’d like to send out a
special “thank you” to Carla Maricic and Maria Spatola, our
Italian Heritage Day chairperson and co-chair. They were able
to get so many items donated that the money raised was able to
go right to the school. We plan to use that money to replace the
old jump ropes that are used at recess and possibly to purchase
some items to enhance our music program. A sincere thanks also
to Rosemarie DiRico for donating all the drinks, and to all the
parents that contributed various items. We’d also like to thank
the following establishments that donated food: Forno Italia
(for providing most of the food), Buon Appetit, Alba’s Pizza,
LaGuli Bakery, Friendly Bakery, Astoria Bakery, and Porto Bello.
Thank you also to all of you
who helped with Grocery Bingo. That includes all who donated
items, helped with setting up, and those that volunteered that
evening. We’d like to particularly thank Patrick Smith for doing
an awesome job as our Bingo caller.
Just to keep you updated on some of the other things we do, for
Christmas, the Home and School presented all St. Francis faculty
and staff, including the crossing guards, priests and support
staff with a bottle of wine on behalf of all the families of St.
Francis. |
A NOTE FROM MSGR. MARESCA
Many of you
read about the money being raised every month for the school
from the various activities, but you may not be aware that this
money goes towards the enormous costs incurred by the school to
keep it functioning without huge increases in tuition. Msgr. was
kind enough to respond to your concerns:
Dear Parents,
I want to take
this opportunity to express my gratitude and appreciation for
all the fund raising you do for our school. Last year you
raised in excess of $100,000. That money is vital to keeping
the tuition as low as possible. As you know, tuition was only
raised $100 this school year because of your hard work. I pray
that you continue this great effort and hard work.
I am well aware
of the tremendous sacrifices that you are making now to send
your child/ children to St. Francis. I would welcome any
suggestions you may have to assist in keeping our tuition as low
as possible.
I want to wish
each of you a Holy New Year. May the child Jesus bless you and
your families with His peace and joy.
Sincerely Yours in
Christ,
Msgr. Ralph J.
